A small mystery: I found this jacket in Japan, but I can't figure out it's exact provenance. It appears to commemorate konami's Bill Elliott's NASCAR from 1992 on the nes, which was the first ever licensed NASCAR game. but I can't find evidence of the jacket existing. So what/when is it from?

Fun jacket for me regardless of what it's from/why it exists, but I am curious about it, and curious how it wound up in Japan - if it was from the contest, maybe they had leftovers that got sent to staff in Japan? Presumably the contest was from the Konami US side. But that may not be its origin!

The fact that EVERYTHING on here is embroidered, along with the logo style, as well as the "made in USA" tag has me convinced that it's actually from the 90s - but you never know, people are good at faking stuff these days, and it's in bizarrely good condition. if it's a fake it's a real good one.

Finding this in Japan seems to be the odd part considering the game wasn't developed by Konami themselves, wasn't developed in Japan, and wasn't released there either as far as I can tell. There has to be some interesting story there

Yeah, that's what makes it extra weird. maybe they sent some extras off to staff here since maybe getting the license was a big deal? maybe brought by a konami USA exec as a gift?
