Just rewatched Ferris Bueller's Day Off and - though I'm sure this is a common thought - I feel like this dude grows up into American Psycho's Patrick Bateman

I feel terrible for Cameron, because Ferris is basically wrecking Cameron's life for his own entertainment.

the kind of movie that makes sense only to americans in the '80s, the winners of the global game. For a balkan kid, I remember, all I could see is wish fulfilment and entitlement (alright, also a gorgeous lady). Of course, much worse cinema exists, the movie is charming in its own way

John Hughes made good movies but he was a boomer who had conservative views. Ferris is a great example of Regan Youth. I liked the movie growing up but as I get older it’s insane how much his character is like a mirror of what we have now. Jeffery Jones role creepy now considering what he became.

I watched it only once as a teen & I was BAFFLED the entire time, like "why is the world bending over backwards to let this little shitheel get away with murder & have a great time, is he a trickster god something, is there some kinda magical realism going on???"
