I don't understand how they are still so delusional about this

It feels very much like you are all emotionally invested in insisting that an at-best marginal gain (at a comically large cost in terms of externalities) that doesn't actually address the real bottlenecks in the way of good software existing is a revolution, because you're priced into it now.

One has arrived robbietilton.com/compositor

krita is an ok ps replacement, it's competitive in the sense that its shortcomings are acceptable given that it's free imo

Usually they only make more shit to shove ai in more computer, but I have a fun one, I spotted a brush-based level editor plugin for Godot, but it feels terrible to use, it's nowhere near close to TB and one of the main functions is broken. It's abandoned, as the dev made it under an ai grant.

it is a curiosity little explored or explained that everyone can see how brilliant their vibe-coded or ai-assisted work is, but everywhere that's adopted it heavily has significantly declined in quality. they like to blame it on late stage capitalism, like they're not relying on the same toolset.

great news: we have automated "other programmers"

I love it when the calculator can barely open and the weather app uses a gb of RAM

just imagine how long it would have taken them without the AI! it's hard out there for all those techbros who can't code and don't have ideas. they're starving, they only have their giant piles of venture capital money to eat.

3. Nature of development - most of the open-source projects are being developed and supported by volunteers from all over the globe who work on these projects in their spare time. Outside responsibilities - they can severely impact the pace of development.
