anti-intellectualism is good when the left does it and bad when the right does it, you see

holy moly @hausofdecline.bsky.social in @inthesetimes.com ???

also probably unintentional but “weird monied elite with strange facial features doesn’t care about the Real Common People (you know, us)” is a reactionary cliche

very tired of pretending that dismissing modern economics is somehow more reasonable than dismissing vaccines. if you’re not an expert, you don’t get to pick and choose parts of a field to believe! you have no way to tell between legitimate and illegitimate results in that field!

Staring into the abyss, yeah. The problem is that the machine “thinks” like the mode of production that produced/reproduces it. A model made under communism would be fine to think like, because it would reinforce and reproduce the existing society— which would be a good one. The tool molds the hand

Idk, the fungibility of thought is here whether we like it or not. It’s a step in the development of the productive forces, and another thing we’ll have to seize and decide what if anything to do with it. For my part, I think people being able to take greater control of their technology is good.

If the difference between a workers’ org that intends to threaten the ruling class being effectively manipulated/surveilled by the state or not is its use of a LLM to audit & harden its communications, then to refuse to do so is an error in my eyes. History will tell.

I do think it’s important and valuable for people to cultivate a generally anti-AI environment, because it is basically the base->superstructure relationship made manifest. It gets back to the unequal ability thing. Not everybody can articulate or assimilate a materialist critique, so speaking

to people where they’re at is important. I think of luddites, and how destroying the machines was fine, it was not learning to make their own first that was the error. Or would have been, if the conditions would’ve allowed that.
