One of the things that we need to internalize as progressives of all stripes is that there are internal conversations to be had in private with people who are on the same page that can be productive and there are external conversations where you need to not scare the hoes

My god I just stumbled onto this. Isn’t the mayor suggesting we wear bike helmets just a case of a cigar just being a cigar?

Hilariously this is either profound and true but impractical because I already know what you mean or an incredibly shit and terribly regressive thing to say because I don't and thus I'd be forced to apply this as general advice to not talk about potentially contentious shit in public.

You also need to message external conversations for people who don't already agree with you. Being factually or morally correct doesn't mean that you're going to be successful at being persuasive and you need to have a model for persuasion beyond those things.

My favorite is “you are right, that’s a great point. But what should we do about X?” (I’m thinking about a convo w someone upset at the Biden crime family and Hunter making $ from Burisma. And I asked what we should do about Javanka, Jr and Eric)

Is that the progressive version of "don't say the quiet parts out loud?" Note: I agree. In order to have sophisticated fruitful conversations on many topics you need to be on the same page. Otherwise it goes nowhere and can be counterproductive.
