Other qualified candidates were considered. We had and exceptionally qualified black/Asian female up for the position. Unfortunately, there was significant bias on the part of the hiring team.

I've been saying that White people think DEI is discrimination because marginalized people are used to working 10x harder for the same things. With DEI initiatives, the competition field has become a bit more fair, but White people don't want to put in that amount of work, so it's "discrimination".

I see DEI as the modern day EEOC. In the 70’s EEOC allowed me & a handful of other women, mostly minorities, to apply & work for the phone company’s previously considered “male” jobs such as lineman, installer, mailroom (wasn’t traditional mail) where we did exact same job and earned “similar” pay🙀

DEI is not what they say/think it is. Forms of DEI have been around since the 70’s. I went through a version of it in Air Force Basic training in 1984. When I joined the private sector I went through diversity training on day one. That was in 2000. They can suck it. It’s just something else.

DEI means that the best qualified is hired regardless of race, gender, etc. Anti-DEI means that only white men are qualified for leadership. It’s as simple as that.

I often tell business owners that DEI is teaching you how not to be sued into bankruptcy over something stupid. It's not just about hiring and hiring practices, it's about the workplace environment as well. Choosing DEI is at the very least, more insurance to protect them.
