I mean guy says "AI is a bubble, unprofitable, gonna burst, trust me bro" since 2024 (or even earlier?) and still has audience that keeps listening to that. That is quite sad. And by proxy I can't take this site seriously as something objective with any meaningful implications

most people believe there is likely some sort of investment bubble occurring with AI, but that’s just to be expected with an emerging tech of this nature and a burst isn’t gonna cause the tech and advancements to go away reading ed zitron a year ago was meh, but today it’s deeply embarrassing

I don't think the tech will ever go away FWIW, but it'll rightly be a niche tech — local models or whatever. The thing that annoys me with "the dotcom bubble didn't kill the internet" thing is what about all the lives that were ruined and all the layoffs?

It's already not niche. It's currently a 100B ARR business with a lot of potential for growth even if capabilities won't get better any further. Fable/Mythos, which is an existing technology is not part of this number yet and there's a good chance that progress won't suddenly stop right now.

what about them? it sucks, that’s what, money hungry investors of all stripes are fucking up things all day everyday and will continue to… that’s a pretty distinct and longstanding issue that predates AI i think you’re being misled and will be quite wrong about the tech being “niche”

I'm still waiting to see something that resembles groundbreaking. I get it, people have a lot of uses for this stuff but the numbers don't add up for this to be a long term, mainstream product. That's not just "zitron" stuff either. Numbers are there for all to see, for those that want to see them
