And I crossed this same intersection around the same time, and a ute driver was playing chicken with pedestrians as they crossed. Melbourne drivers are the worst.

Have you ever seen cops book anyone? My friend got done for jaywalking at Spencer/Collins St so my guess is that rule128 isn't a priority...

I've seen police training for traffic direction (common at Collins/Queen and Collins/Elizabeth) ignore this, though their presence usually prevents it. Just once have I seen them actively trying to stop motorists blocking the intersection. They should do it every afternoon, and/or enforce the rule.

I wish they also did it at cnr Victoria and Elizabeth during morning and afternoon peaks.
