Intense rain has inundated parts of southeast Queensland and northeast NSW during the last 24 hours. Caboolture registered around 170 mm in just 3 hours on Thursday morning, while Beerburrum's 171 mm in the last 24 hours is nearly double its monthly average for October.

Are we gonna do this, Bluesky? Are we all just gonna not understand accounting? 72B$ of the 80B$ is convertible notes. They became greater liabilities because the company's valuation skyrocketed. They don't have an 80B$ loss in the sense that almost everyone here is imagining.

This is always a great yearly thread from someone with a wonderful depth of expertise on the energy transition. You should also buy her book, or maybe encourage your local library to pick up a copy?

We’ve had 22 years of Cybersecurity Awareness Month. People are aware. People know phishing is bad, ransomware exists, and passwords shouldn’t be “password.” Mission Accomplished! Let's rename it Cybersecurity Readiness Month. semgrep.dev/blog/2026/re...

semgrep.devWhy It's Time to Rename Cybersecurity Awareness MonthCybersecurity Awareness Month did its job. Twenty years on, awareness isn't the problem, behavior is. It's time to rename it Cybersecurity Readiness Month.

This morning’s magnitude 4.8 earthquake is the largest in Victoria for 3 years. The epicentre was near Korumburra. It’s the largest on record in the area. In 2009 a magnitude 4.7 & 4.6 occurred within a 2 week period at the same place. Dozens of aftershocks have occurred, the largest so far at M3.2

I'm no expert, but IMO it would have been more efficient for Australia Post to just send me the parcel directly instead of routing it from Oakleigh via the ACT and Sydney and back to Oakleigh..

Why did China's coal&gas power output fall 4% in August? Three reasons: power generation from wind and solar grew much more than reported, as always; industrial power demand growth slowed down; and milder temperatures drove a drop in residential demand. How to parse the data 👇

New report shows Germany generated as much solar energy by end of September as in whole of 2025 – and almost three times more than Australia over the same period https://reneweconomy.com.au/germany-smashes-pv-record-produces-three-times-more-solar-power-than-australia-so-far-this-year/

Me: These NFL games are boring, there's like 10 mins of action in the whole 3 hours. Why don't they get a real game!! Also me: Righto, time to turn on the Brownlow - wonder how Daicos went in round 9. #AFL #Brownlow

Your regular reminder: If the Russians stop fighting, the war ends. If the Ukrainians stop fighting, their land will be occupied, their leaders will be killed, their history and language will be erased, their children will be kidnapped to serve Russia.

Just saw an ad during #AFLFreoGeelong to win "free maccas for life" Can't think of anything worse really. Maybe donate it to someone you want to have a heart attack?
