The story now says he didn't have the right documents. Either that's true or it's a cover story everyone agreed on to avoid bad press for ICE and to avoid MAGA types harassing Lee and hurting his endorsement income; maybe it's true, a rich guy who isn't from a poor country is less-likely victim.

ICE keeps doing some high profile raids in well-off areas in L.A. including near sporting venues in January, so yeah, by this summer and the cup shit is going to be so much worse. I wonder how many teams will eventually bow out

I don't know about every spring but if you arrive in a foreign country without the required travel docs you're going to be held until it's resolved. It happened to me in Miami 20 years ago when the cruise line i worked for forgot to give me a letter of employment. Fuck ICE but this isn't a big deal.

The only reason I'm skeptical is that a guy with a hundred million dollar contract has more and better lawyers arranging their cross-border travel than a cruise line employee, and while this story describes events that could happen, it's also a useful face-saving cover if he was harassed by ICE.

Olympics, too. I also wonder if professional sports will stand up to this stupid, bigoted bullshit, especially baseball. The minor leagues could be decimated. They probably lack the resources to protect their players. I know that ICE goons are working their extrajudicial evil in Lakewood, NJ…

…home of the Blue Claws, a Phillies affiliate. I realize it’s the off season but Stephen Miller’s pet, ICE, is ramping up operations. At a game I attended last year the majority of players did not have English sounding names or the fairest complexion.
