Do you propose copying twitter? How would that relate to feeds? People have been using feeds base on hashtags but those are easily spammed, which lowers the utility. There was some discussion here: bsky.app/profile/dana...
i want so much bsky to ship communities. or something
Say I am posting an RPG-related tweet, there would be an interface to let me share it with the RPG feed I am in, and then if it’s unrelated feed mods can boot me

i posted a bit about some (existing) ideas around that which i would've loved to see shipped
one way this could look like is a different primitive that is more set-like (in a mathematical sense). like "collections". you can add stuff to collections but they don't impose any ranking. they're more like profiles in that sense. completely predictable. and then *those things* could be ranked
That's good context and we are thinking alike. The For You feed is taking the job of ranking. What each person puts into their "likes" collection is curation. The collection type is a very useful concept. I implemented it in the spiritual predecessor of For You - linklonk.com - article recommender.
From: linklonk.com/item/2369676... When you upvote an item, you put that item into one or several of your channels. There is one channel called main that every user starts with. And you can create more channels.
