AI is certainly unpopular but I think the “fascism! it’s great!” thing has a whole lot to do with this

Tbh I think there is a lot of people who saw early builds of AI and were "oh wow that's actually pretty cool" who have very substantially soured on it in the years since, in very large part because of who controls it, and what they say about how they see the future of it

and it’s a pretty rational change, I think! it’s very difficult to trust a technology when the people who are building and directing it are so untrustworthy
