It’s good - ideal, even! - for your CFO to pull you aside and tell you repeatedly about the dire financial consequences of the potential failure of your $200 billion AI capex gamble that you recently admitted you made without knowing why you were doing it. You don’t learn this in business school!

On the Cheeky Pints podcast, CEO Mark Zuckerberg and chief AI officer Alexandr Wang revealed that Susan Li pulled Wang aside “many times” at a Hawaii offsite to warn him that if Meta’s new AI model flopped, it would be “really, really bad” financially. 😬 Read more: https://yhoo.it/4zQLL59

Its cool that we have to be ruled by lame nerds now and theyre not even the smart ones. can we go back to there will be blood style oil barrons

Sorry, the oil baron business model depends on a commodity with use value being exchanged for money, and is no longer useful today. Current business models are more efficient and rely on influencing speculators and governments to give us money for no use value at all.

i won the school spelling bee in 7th grade but my principal messed up the paperwork so i never got to go to regionals so now i point out other people's spelling mistakes online just to feel something

It takes a very special kind of mediocre wealthy white guy to overlook his CFO all but shitting blood in terror and “huh huh huh yeah” his way through a podcast.

It’s fun and good that the big stories today are a bunch of CEOs acting like they’re starring in different Safdie Brothers movies

I would love for AI to sink Meta. It would be wonderful since this disgusting android of a human being has made billions turning people against each other.

Luckily, Zuck hasn’t made any recent high profile investments in something that flopped. Now to check on my metaverse real estate portfolio…

I'm not that high up, but every leaked CEO/shareholder meeting I've read has made me want to hit myself with a hammer, so I think if you have to do one of those every quarter you may end up with a brain made of pudding.

I, personally, love that our entire economy is a house of cards constructed by the most self-aggrandizing, credulous rubes on the planet.

To be fair, they invested billions of dollars in metaverse stuff, made a terrible knockoff of VRchat that nobody used, and lost all the money - and that didn't sink the company.

True but the amount they're spending on AI dwarfs what they spent on the metaverse. During the whole metaverse episode they were just burning money Facebook was making from ads, for AI it's so much more than they've been taking on debt. Hence why their CFO is clearly upset about it all.

They were lucky, once, maybe twice, so they MUST be business genius in human form, surely? What, they're as stupid as the rest of us but they rolled a 6? Tell me more...
