The defensiveness of AI boosters over calling this morally reprehensible is remarkable, they really do not like it when anyone has any kind of principles or when they care about something lol

As I said earlier on Yahoo Finance, Jensen Huang is channel stuffing to pump NVIDIA's revenues, forcing GPUs on customers months in advance and making everything more expensive for everyone. It's morally reprehensible. finance.yahoo.com/video/spacex...

Are any of the tech journalists talking to the PC gamers? They’re pissed off at Nvidia, the hyperscalers, and the other players who have caused the price of graphics cards to more than triple in price over the last year. I wish some journalists would engage with the community on Reddit & Discord

Fun extra facts: The literal Taiwanese government is the one making all of the NVidia H100 and H200 chips. TSMC was a state-created and state-funded operation from the beginning, with “private investment” largely being “very rich Taiwanese government allies.” ASML is a Dutch-sponsored company.

You’ve got Jensen Huang, Taiwan, and the Netherlands all making money hand over fist. Larry Ellison is the CIA’s Databases Guy and invented Oracle *for them*. He owns or controls like a quarter of the global market in AI datacenter GPUs. There is quite a lot of very bad smoke here.

It makes it like 1000x weirder that the Dutch and Taiwan are conspiring together to drive up the prices of GPUs because Taiwan used to be a Dutch territory. A Dutch East India Company island. If the new NVidia chip family isn’t called Tulip they missed a step.

When I worked at a large tech company, they regularly included stuff like Channel Stuffing To Juice You Numbers as explicitly forbidden and unethical. It was considered an extreme violation of customer trust, and eyed as deliberate bribery.

its also a bit odd given the "everybody" it raised costs for happens to include the AI companies. you'd think AI boosters of the more rational variety would be more outraged that the greatest tech ever is being threatened by corporate greed but no, it's all pixie dust

one of my more wild-eyed, philosophically minded mutuals has argued neural networks are "conscious" for reasons i don't totally see as absurd (consciousness defined as anything that can interpret signs/symbols) and i've not seen any concern at all that they're going to shut down living beings

personally if i was particularly convinced AI is, well, AI I'd be deeply unsettled by the basic economic reality that the continued existence of a novel form of life is entirely contingent on its habitat- megacorporate server farms- continuing to function despite losing money

not quite, signs as in the philosophical concept of signs. a preprogrammed machine does not work it has to *interpret* the sign, as in, correctly understand the sign without having it explained in advance

these people think everyone has a price that can buy out their morals and it is fucking disgusting

Ask any of those playing defense to lend the same dollar to 67 people at the same time and calculate the true rate of return when half of the folk don't pay it back. When their eyes gloss over and they mumble a few cuss words give them a ticket to China. Huang already bought his.
