Man about town.

Great day! I have been waiting so long for Grammarly to introduce tools that make me sound like a human being, something I am incapable of doing myself.

On his 35th year, my daddy asked me to put him down, as was our custom. I surely hated to do it, but a man begins to sour in his advancing years, and I knew it was a small mercy on my part, not to mention my duty as the man of the house. Mama knit a tombstone cosy for the grave, as was our custom.

"I ONLY used it for the parts of the process that I do not respect or value, but still need to include in my film for some reason!"

People imagine picking up and finding *something better* is an easy solution. But how is that supposed to work, when all your time and energy goes to staying alive? You have almost nothing to set aside to actually fight your way out.

"We animated some photos that are in the public domain" There are so many creative ways to use photos and stills in video. To call this lazy is a disservice to laziness. We need a mass rejection of this and the people who excuse it, like yesterday. www.hollywoodreporter.com/movies/movie...

hollywoodreporter.comAva DuVernay Defends Using AI in New Doc ’14th’The director wants audiences to “make their decisions about how they feel” about the technology, which is used to bring to life some archival photos in the film.

If I understand this correctly, this is a good thing and I should probably invest?

BREAKING: Anthropic is warning investors that AI could pose catastrophic and even existential risks to humanity. The warning comes from its IPO filing, which Reuters reported devotes about 80 of its 261 pages to risk factors.

What's great is you know this guy didn't write a single word of this.

My colleagues at Anthropic are the most talented, thoughtful, competent, and earnest people I have ever met. I am glad they are at the wheel and trust them deeply. To the community on X, thank you for everything. You’ve made this the most fun (and sometimes stressful) job I’ve ever had.

Booking tickets to a 9:50am screening of the Exorcist: sure why not? Attending a 9:50am screening of the Exorcist: this fucking sucks. What the fuck.

important to remember: the only reason these guys are rushing headlong into this dangerous nonsense that they don't even fully understand is so that a few of them can beat the other ones to becoming trillionaires. that's why livelihoods, lives, and the entire current order is being put at risk

A helpfully clear exchange here Hasan: "So your argument is that [Minnesota ICE protesters] should stay at home because immigration is a salient issue for Donald Trump. Opposing ICE is only going to help Trump. Wait until we win the election in 2028." Yglesias: "Yes that is what I would have said"

Always such a long and exhausting way to say that certain groups of people don't matter to you.

"Online Rent-a-Sage" Bret Devereaux@bretdevereaux.bsky.social

It turns out that choosing the lesser of two evils is, in fact, a moral imperative. And some folks want to wait for the Revolutionary Perfect, but I would equally challenge them to demonstrate a single time where a 'start from nothing, year-0' revolution has turned out well for most people.

Sometimes I wonder if anyone has thought about the logical endpoint to making people endure years of "We are making everything worse for you and there is nothing you can do about it" as we all veer toward complete and total collapse.
