While I don’t ride or die for Pete Buttigieg, the vitriol directed at him is completely insane. “When I was younger I wished that I could have taken a pill to turn me straight; but I have accepted and embraced my identity now” is an *extremely* common sentiment from Millennial and older gay people!

“This out gay man who was sixteen years old and living in Indiana when Matthew Shepard was murdered used to wish he could be straight. This proves that he is homophobic.” Do these people hear themselves?

I can't stand Pete and I think he is soulless, fake and compromised... but this attack on him sucks so bad. This anecdote shared by him is heartbreaking and strikes me as incredibly honest
