I have read every book on my shelf. The book shelves are packed tight so I’m forbidden from buying anymore. Subscription services and the library are my only options. Age might have something to do with it.

I buy books then check out the library’s e-book so I can read it in bed without dealing with a book light.

I buy two mental classifications of books. I buy books that I for sure will (and eventually do) read, and then I buy books for that time (that's been any day now for at least two decades) when I break my leg/neck/back/etc and find myself with a lot more free time than I currently have.

My policy is only my read books get put on the shelf. Otherwise they belong in a pile by my bed which I use to impose guilt on myself to avoid spending too much on books
