The deal apparently includes 13,000 tonnes in tariff free beef access to the US for UK farmers, and 13,000 tonnes in tariff free beef access to the UK for US farmers. No one's standards change. By way of context the tariff free quota Australian beef gets into the US is 448,214 tonnes per annum.

Who is going to buy this US beef? Given the US administration has effectively shut down the FDA and inspections, who is to say what is being imported is safe to consume?

The UK doesn't rely on FDA garauntees for meat safety, it checks at the border and will continue to do so.

It can't though without on-site certification. The shutting down of FDA schemes will render that impossible.

Honest question, Dmitry, can the UK border forces be trusted to do their job properly? The UK border control seems quite overwhelmed by all the extra Brexit red tape and not have enough resources / manpower etc. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article....
