Some thoughts on hybrid attacks, and why they're so hard for us to talk about properly. Short version: 1) they have no elegant or obvious solutions; and 2) influence ops imply that voters are influencable and may have been influenced in the past, which is an uncomfortable conversation.

Excellent, very important points well made. I believe your thesis is pretty obvious to many people except those with actual power, who are influenced by other than facts.

Almost everyone says they aren't influenced by advertising. Despite this, advertising is a huge industry, and organisations see direct impact on performance from advertising (when done well).

Threats? Or actions? What did we do when people were assassinated by Russia on UK soil? We laughed at how stupid they were to think we’d believe they were tourists. We so believe in our own superiority that we have no way of taking them seriously. After all, we laughed at Hitler.
