Having worked with both companies...yeah They try really hard not to be, but so much of the company is that same kind of "has-been consumer company that's mostly enterprise now" vibe that is most of what IBM is

i really do wonder what's the actual value of being Ginormous Tech Company in this coming age. like being that huge has advantages when software moved in months, but now that it's ~weeks, and people can catch up to you in ~weeks...

and the tech industry even in the US alone is huge, so let's say they actually want to cut 25k. it's not great but it's not nearly as bad as people always make it out to be. Amazon and others have already cut more people than that

fwiw what i've seen is that the internal expectation is that not that many employees are expected to take the buyout; they apparently did something else for a lot less employees earlier in the year and like 33% took it and they're expecting wayyyy less this go-around.
