The infamous "WET YOURSELF..." Super Mario Sunshine print ad is often posted online without context, leading many to believe it is fake or fan-made. However, it is very much real, appearing on page 130 of issue 119 of the British Nintendo Official Magazine.

if you haven't tried alphaxiv.org yet - you should, it's zotero for doomscrolling it's peak

@alphaxiv.org is so incredibly cool, i just wish they had ATProto support for SSO (rn it's just google/apple/huggingface), feels like a very good fit

please let the direction vector be "no one wants shitty enterprise saas-ware anymore, they want vibe coders to do custom ones now" and not "sorry no jobs for u when you inevitably get laid off"

i think in the long term vision being bale to like, select a handful of can signals visually, record them, and have that as an artifact you can pass around to other toolbox tools/agents would be neat.

i mean, either way, the core of it has to be "atomic, composable tools". i could probably re-organize the canview to have a client/server model (so you could theoretically expose can signals to a hypothetical web view, like the tester webapp we already have).

and anyone with that web view can just like, run a set of commands on the vm. so like, i think the end vision would be some kind of web portal that will drop you into a terminal session, or if that's too much, a web view that exposes the toolbox tools

i guess i'd have to think on whether it'd be better to have a local "portal", that people can use as their workspace (create persistent sessions per vehicle/ticket/etc), or a central interface do these even have to be in tension? not really

if we're thinking of composable, atomic tools that could interact: - can viewer - architecture/wiring schematic viewer w/ semantic search and that doesn't suck - not really a tool but compiling known workarounds and common commands in a justfile hmmm...

i think one of the bigger friction points, especially with non-diag engineers, is literally just accessing the vms. my workaround atm is having a herdr session with named panes for each vm, and a bash alias that lets me go `vm X` as shorthand. but we literally have a web view of these things

men really shouldn’t self describe as a grungier

ok yeah we now have a cantools monitor clone, but it adds mouse support, pinning signals, much better filtering, and even can highlight signals that triggered test failures. fucking crazy

this one Go tool, which does all our jnterfaces in a multitab thing, plus doing lookups to highlight failures, consumes 70MB less ram than one cantools monitor instance

it also surfaces more information than cantools monitor does now (namely, what ECU transmitted the message — so you can see if something’s being forwarded from another ECU or if it’s a direct signal)
