The right-wing atheists claim groups like FFRF used to have "3 times the membership" when they were less "woke." I looked at the membership numbers FFRF reported at their October convention. Must be fun to surround yourself with "critical thinkers" who'll believe any lie you tell them.

It doesn't have anything to do with it. They are not defining themselves by their atheism, they are defining themselves by their conservatism with atheism tacked on. FFRF represents everyone who needs them, including religious people.

When I debated the dude from Atheists for Liberty he argued atheists groups should just focus on atheism and not political issues. I pointed out how that seemed compatible with a group called Atheists for Liberty and recommended they rebrand to Atheists for Atheism.

"Unlike you wokeists, we're focusing exclusively on atheism—like the people want. Anyway, here's a few thousand words on exactly which jobs certain classes of people should be banned from doing because we find them icky."

Whenever someone starts throwing out the word “woke” as a pejorative, I know the person is not worth debating. “Woke” just means that which offends others but not you. “Offensive” or “persecution” is when it offends you personally.

Examples: Boycott Disney and Bud Light? Because they’ve declared war on Christianity! Walmart says “Happy Holidays!” Because they’re not allowing us to celebrate Christmas! Want to marry the one you love, and have the same rights as heterosexuals? Well, now you’re just being easily offended.

I might consider that, When they take down an apologize for mocking dead people I used to believe only religious people could mock dead people. FFRF has proven me wrong on this.
