Based on crowd-sourced records of No Kings Day event turnout, and extrapolating for the cities where we don't have data yet, it looks like roughly 4-6 million people protested Trump across the U.S. yesterday. That's nearly 2% of the U.S. pop! Mobilized anti-Trump resistance is exceeding 2017 levels

gelliottmorris.com"No Kings Day" protests turn out millionsOur unofficial estimate is that around 4 million people attended a protest event yesterday. Anti-Trump resistance is outpacing 2017.

We generated our estimates by crowdsourcing and painstakingly checking data integrity for thousands of protest events held across the U.S. yesterday. We used official organizer tallies, news reports, self-reports from rally attendees, and AI analysis of protest pictures and video

The result is, we think, the most comprehensive source for the turnout at yesterday's No Kings Day events. This is not an _official_ estimate by any means. But we do think it's more credible than relying on one single source or a finger-in-the-wind org guesstimate.

We do not intend this to be the final word. Rather, in the hybrid journalist-academic spirit of Strength In Numbers, we endeavor to help other people with their work. We have published our data publicly for researchers to use and build on. Data linked Here: www.gelliottmorris.com/p/no-kings-d...

The spreadsheet has less than half the locations - but that doesn’t mean the data is inherently underestimated by half. From the ~750 locations on the spreadsheet, there were 2.7 million attendees! The spreadsheet uses that to estimate total turnout across the nation.

The low estimate of ~4 million comes from taking the median attendance of the data collected, and assuming all >2000 protests would have that many people. That undercounts the attendance of the big protests, but there are WAY more small protests than big ones, so it should be a decent estimate.

The higher estimate of 6.5 million is from taking the average of the 750 protests, and using that as the assumed turnout for all >2000 protests. But the crowdsourced data has big protests overrepresented, so that number is hedged by decreasing it 25%. Again, just an estimate, but not unreasonable.

Alt National Parks' methodology is whatever numbers they can pull out of their ass to get people excited to buy more shirts. Don't look to those grifters for any kind of accurate analysis. All they are is left-wing QAnon.

I started one in my small town because I hate large crowds. More people joined who felt the same. Also you can't count the cheers and honks etc we got as well. I think the GOP are in a world of hurt and they are to stupid to see it.

I can't speak to all of these, but I do know that there were ones that popped up in places that weren't planned. I saw that there was a large group in Gulfport, in St. Petersburg. It wasn't a planned location.
