Even Republican approval ratings of this are lower than they've ever been. I'd call that important, but it'll only mean anything if almost every check and balance meant to be holding the Trump administration accountable stops being slothful as humanly possible.

I did not get that impression. They mostly released weak looking statements about voting to declare the war illegal. But they mostly all seem to agree that they want to declare the strikes illegal.

AFAICT, there's one guy in the entire Democratic caucus that is "cool with the strikes." Maybe.

Even the mythical moderate voter is like "this is evil and gross and you're bad for supporting it" but they can't stop themselves.

This is likely more of a halo effect of the larger Trump administration. From a "US Brand" POV, Afghanistan and Iraq had better messaging up front. Both of the previous acts were more "on brand" than this one. This is something else and I think the American people as a whole are starting to wake up.

Independents voted for trump to bring costs down. He hasn’t accomplished that and entering a war is only going to make costs go up even more. People remember Iraq and Afghanistan. Didn’t help anyone but the defense contractors.
