Hey @nytimes.com, I already reported this earlier this week. And the G650s you mention? I reported on those in FEBRUARY. You credit NBC News and WSJ for first reporting parts of your story. Please credit me, too.

What would be awesome is a “build your own newsletter” site. Where readers could find independent journalists and build their own subscription package. I wish I could support all of you but I will def follow and share your great reports before the big paper stories.

I pitched TNR multiple times last year and received no’s or no response. The Daily Beast is a tire fire internally. I assure you I tried my best at freelancing/getting hired to do this (see my MJ, RollingStone, Zeteo, Prospect stories). It was not sustainable, that’s why I have resorted to my site.

So ProPublica is AMAZING, but they are technically “objective” news and I’m no longer doing that. Trying to be an “out” left-wing journalist, for my own sanity. MSNow has invited me to pitch them op-eds, but I don’t think that includes reported pieces from a left-wing perspective. I should ask. :-)

I keep wondering if I should even bother continuing to cover this stuff because I’m so broke, and then this shit keeps happening. So my reporting definitely has value! Just not for me.

I fucking hate doing this, you guys. I’m gonna be mad all morning. I would be THRILLED to be mentioned in NYT, bc it would result in subscribers and might get me closer to paying my bills! But these mfers just refuse to do the right and normal journalism thing if you aren’t a big outlet.

1. 200% right to be upset 2. They aren't journalists anymore, we should lower our expectations NYT etc 3. There is more value in this feed than the entirety of the NYT 4. It sucks but I think it's critical to continue highlighting this. It's likely to go unnoticed or change without exposure
