for the kilos one, either multiply by 2 to get a rough estimate in pounds (actual multiplier is 2.2 if you can do that) or pull out your phone and use google :p

Of all the antiquated ways of measuring things, it baffles me that Americans aren't onboard with stones. I assume you round your weight in pounds or do you like to know, to the lb, how overweight you are?

Unix utilities to the rescue! sedici:~ 46> units 751 units, 62 prefixes You have: stone You want: pound * 14 / 0.071428571 You have: kilogram You want: pound * 2.2046226 / 0.45359237 You have: crumpet unknown unit 'crumpet' You have: ^D sedici:~ 47>

Like Europeans don't count petrol by the liter. One tank is 60 liters? I'm 181cm tall? WTF is that? The imperial system goes by human scale. An inch? Your fingertip. A foot? Your foot. A yard? Your arm. I'm 6 feet tall. Which is 1 fathom. Or 8 hands. Or a tenth of a furlong. Thereabouts.

Litre, not liter. Imperial is OK for gross measurement if you want a foots worth or a fingers worth. It's a bit weird to standardise, so the Systeme Internationale was created to standardise and unify everything. It's so weird and such a bad idea only 3 countries in the world don't use it. :)
