Another pattern is many rejected are from countries not playing in Canada such as Colombia, Haiti, Congo, Mexico, Ecuador etc. These countries played in Canada: Canada, Bosnia, Qatar, Switzerland, Germany, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Panama, Croatia, Iraq, Türkiye, New Zealand, Egypt & Belgium

Not sure what the issues were with Colombia, Ghana & Panama etc. But Nigeria, Pakistan, India, China, Kenya, Venezuela, Bangladesh, Peru & Guatemala aren’t in the World Cup. Definitely a pattern of rejecting applications from countries not in the World Cup.

Ivory Coast had none rejected according to this list, Ghana had many. Qatar & Iraq had none too, but most from Egypt & Turkey rejected. Germany & Aussies not rejected, but some Brits were (not playing here). Rest on this list were from countries that didn't play World Cup matches in Canada.

If this were the explanation, one would expect that countries in the World Cup would have much higher visa grant *rates* than countries not in the World Cup, but that's not what the graphic shows. The overwhelming majority of applications from DR Congo were denied, for example.

Yes! I’m saying they should also have hosted the whole competition this year, instead of having co-hosts with very restrictive visa policies.
