The currently escalating tech backlash must be put in the context of: “people have been listening to the most insufferable techbros in the world gleefully threaten everyone else with mass unemployment for over 6 years, and they’re sick of their shit”

Yeah I for one have zero sympathy for the hurt feels of the same people who were sneering “have fun staying poor” at everyone who didn’t invest in their virtual beanie babies four years ago.

Or who spent the early 2000s telling artists they'd better figure out how to work for virtual tips, because "information wants to be free" and copyright protections were going away. (For art, anyway. Most of these guys had jobs writing copyrighted software.)

“You mean I have to pay an ARTIST to make my Absolutely Fabulous/Farscape slashfic videos? Well, in the future, I’ll have COMPUTERS do it for free, so do it for me for free now or else!”
