We need action that will capture the feds attention. This sounds like it could make a difference but how to make it work?

The oligarchs don't just want our tax, they NEED it. Now we know the need it, withholding tax can be a legitimate form of protest in this current period. It must be organized and coordinated to ensure they can't go after individuals alone. this tax protest is absolutely what is needed.

You still have to pay on tax day, regardless of the extension.

You still have to pay estimated taxes when you apply for an extension.

If you file for an extension you still have to pay the amount due on 4/15. If you pay late there is a fee of 0.5% per month (plus interest) with the maximum late penalty being 25% of the amount due.

My aunt, who’s been doing other’s income taxes for the past 25 years said that now is not the time to file. The IRS isn’t stable enough and may need to get court injunctions to keep people working. With that being said she said that filing for an extension now is optimal. But you can do whatever 🤷‍♀️

Good idea or not, there’s no mechanism for it. The biggest regular flow of tax money is payroll deduction. Most employers use payroll services that withhold taxes and pay Treasury directly.

I kind of am suggesting that we should all stop paying federal income tax. I understand the risks but EOTD if you could get 10%-30% of the people who voted for Kamala to do it, it would be impactful. I'd love to see the blue state Govs get together & discuss some of what you suggest.

We could all file exempt just temporarily- maybe a month or two.

Yeah if you just do it on your own you're an easy target which is exactly what an underfunded IRS will descend on like a pack of starving wolves. It's important to not be easy to remove, especially now.

What about individuals filing a government tax extention?

Wishful thinking. Federal income taxes don't get passed through the states first. The fed pays the states based on what Congress has allocated.

And you can file an extension too until October. Even though you will have to pay interest on what you owe, you can still do it. I'll pay my 2024 taxes, I messed up and owed several hundred but I'll wait until October to file and then ask to get on a payment plan. A lot can happen from now to then.
