i'm absolutely in the "AI is a Tool" camp, and strongly believe it must be wielded extremely carefully and tactfully

i think these are both correct

only read ai summary of hickey’s take so far but the argument seems to be exactly what i’ve been thinking for a while and it shocks me anyone would disagree except as a way of instrumentalizing belief to reverse engineer evidence for ai being good like if ai is a tool probs so is your arm or brain

ai could be useful and also not a tool!!!!? otoh i can imagine extending tool in this way sort of i just think like it actually fucks with reasoning capacity to do so more than it provides ease

the reason for this is that the way we engage with things matters a LOT for our personal development and the work itself and i think a good workflow can probs emphasize heavy tool use in this narrower since paired with agentic support or driving as well a lot too
