why does every little atproto app being cooked up rn have to have a frontend Designed By Claude ™️ why are we so hyped about social data and an open internet and then turning to ai when its time to create and play

if i had to guess bc there are frontend coders and there are backend coders and ppl who do the backend don't like to do the frontend lol

these two things aren’t really connected? But most of the projects people know about are made by one person working alone and not being paid for it. Impossible to truly be an expert in everything.

But also a lot of modern trends in app design happen to be more or less similar to what LLMs are trained to produce, which is certainly a chicken or egg thing.

That certainly seems to be the zeitgeist. The urge to make "XYZ but ATProto" is stronger than the urge to chill out and make cool, fun stuff like the 90s.

I wish I didn’t have to do it, but I’m absolute shit at frontend and I don’t like doing it ;-; Lemme play with backend and frontend should just magically appear 🙏

The web requires developers to become UI designers. Every app ends up designing its UI language basically from scratch. They dont care about the colors/fonts/etc, so claude is the path of least resistance. iOS and Android do it right. UI components and theming are from the OS, we just do layout.
