Nintendo was on fire that year. Damn

So stacked that even as someone who only mildly enjoys the 'biggest' hitters (Zelda MGS RE2 Half-Life) it was still an absolutely baller year. Flipping between Xenogears, SF Alpha 3, Parasite Eve, and R4? No wonder I didn't have friends in high-school I was gaming HARD

This event made me realize that despite the fact that 98 was so stacked, I haven't played A LARGE MAJORITY of these titles. I really need to set some time to just go through a bunch of these...

scowling like ed harris at the oscars at descent freespace being on page 5

No TESA Redguard and Might and Magic 6 😭

Arcade games had some baller stuff like CarnEvil, Panzer Dragoon Saga was a tremendous Saturn game of what I played.

I mean, *everybody* was super sonic racing…

I’ve never once thought about Ocarina of Time and Sonic Adventure coming out the same year. That’s crazy.

Before micro transactions, DLC, so much art was produced it was magical.

above starcraft! can't throw a rock without hitting its cursed progeny

I owned the pc port of Sonic R And I played Ocarina of Time in 1998, that’s Why I Know Ball

classic after classic, well worn and well loved title on top of well worn and well loved title aaaaaaaaaaaand Glover

the part where everyone logs all the games they had as a kid skews the data in such funny ways

weather effects really were that special

It feels odd that LSD has year in which it released. I always imagined that game just sorta fading in from the ether.

and then the next year we had system shock 2 and tony hawk pro skater

And no radiant silvergun

There sure are a lot of those

backloggd really does not skew towards older pc gamers

and wheres jingle cats

When I went looking I kept gasping so often my girlfriend looked over annoyed and asked what was wrong with me lol. It is unbelievable.

AND SOULCALIBUR WHICH I DIDNT EVEN NOTICE?! FUCK OFF 1998

Sonic R gets in on the strength of its soundtrack alone

Slaps pokemon tcg and xenogears on my forehead like a big "kick me" sign Genuinely thought 1998 has SO many good games, holy shit

look upon my works ye mighty and despair type shit
