i will very much enjoy ff7r3's combat and queen's blood but the way this story is pulling into the final station after how cool remake/intermission were seems so disappointing. they're so terrified of upsetting fans they can't even remember cissnei is Evil. it's just clap because you recognise her

sounds like you still don’t know sephiroth

It's funny because that moment in Rebirth where Rufus wants you to work for him to get Sephiroth feels like a missed opportunity to give the meat of the game an interesting thrust and tension that delivers on some promised change. Then Yuffie comes in and ruins it.

if cloud said yes and split from the party taking aerith and tifa with him because he cares about confronting sephiroth, while barret yuffie and red stay comitted to the cause it would have been so cool. kinda sexist for the love interests lol but still, a Real Decision

well yeah, jenova was the real villain of ff7 im not saying that the original game isn’t way better but “shinra is the real evil” was abandoned in the original game long before it was abandoned in everything that has happened after. roughly right after you leave midgar

i don't think thats quite true like all of disc 3 is still mostly about shinra, the junon escape and everything. theres some disappointing stuff with barret in the end but i think shinra being the bad guys is consistent through the game

Are they gonna do anything with that whole multiverse-concept that turned up in rebirth? Or are we just gonna forget about it

they will occsaionally bring it up and it will be mechanically relevant in the finale but it will not actually change the plot or themes in an interesting way

I know comparing it to Kingdom Hearts is a bad faith meme but this is literally the KH structure. At this point FF7’s story is the Disney Worlds: the formality we sit through until an incredibly backloaded finale that rushes through all its new ideas.
