While I applaud the effort, for many people it is simply impossible. This includes people paid hourly who need the money, people in health care or public safety jobs, people working for or with governments that won't close. Folks need to temper expectations and be understanding of this.

So people who work multiple minimum wage jobs to feed their kids should stay home? Caregivers for the elderly or disabled? People who run shelters? Hope you don’t need a cop or the emergency room that day. It’s not “tempering expectations” it’s reality. Not respecting their choices is…Trumpian.

These activities should be spontaneous like flash mobs, and ongoing. Covertly planned so the regime can’t plan ahead. Like the resistance organizations in Europe during WWII.

May 1st is an important day for workers movement all over the world, except for some reason in the USA, where the inspiration for the date comes from. It's actually a national holiday in many countries. The date wasn't chosen randomly.

Not everyone can do this, that’s ok, but imagine 8 million people, at least. Economically striking the tech world with no use of the technology (no Google, FB, X, Amazon, etc) would hurt the industry. And hurt Trump

Awesome! I boycotted Amazon and don’t use the tech boy products anymore. But one person just isn’t very effective. However, if each of us bring 2 people into the strike, we would cause a problem.

THIS is what needs to be done. Shut the country down. But there has to be a clear "ask"--is it "end the war" "release the files" or something very specific. Just "anti-trump" strikes won't work.

Pick a reason, but just get involved, the point is to get a general strike started. It will take a few tries to get it to make a difference. But every time it's done it will grow and cause more damage to the people it needs to hurt.

I know. I’ve waited 2 years. I’ve watched in horror. America is so difficult to organize but each time, the people get stronger and stronger. Waiting for people to catch up makes my blood boil but we are here now. We are stronger than any MAGA. We need to stop the Idiot madness. Mayday works!

We should, but not yet. What we should really be doing is organizing resources so those who have hurdles to participate, can! Please ask anyone hesitant to participate, what it would take to get them to and if you can please help them with those resources!

We've tried these before but many people can't participate for good reasons. I think a more targeted protest is needed such as signs directed at Republican congressmen, corporations, Fox and their personalities who are enabling this. Call them out by name so the world can see en masse the enablers.

Think of this as a practice run, making it easy for people who show up for the No Kings to move from a day of protest to a day of action. That song this will make it easier for people to commit to bigger, longer strikes.

I admire your positive outlook but have lived in the US long enough over my lifetime to have a very healthy dose of skepticism about how engaged Americans are. Proof is 2 percent of you getting out to events all organized for you.

I showed up after the shootings at the courthouse. Many others showed up. We were there because ICE killed innocent citizens for NO reason except that they opposed them. Enough is enough. Yes, people haven’t been engaged in the past. We didn’t need to be. Now we do!

We’re already at 5 yrs & 3 months with this regime, but if you include the four years in between his 2 terms, where his regime radicalized its base, created chaos, plotted insurrection, were into the 10th year. It’s Go Time‼️

Plan ahead. Buy gas, groceries, whatever you may need to have on hand for 1 da. Call off sick the morning of May 1, no school for your children &/or yourself if you are a student, for that day, & have family time. Sm. business owners plan ahead w/ employees to be closed that day. #NationalStrike

While I hope this helps, I’m retired so no problem. However this is why Republicans want to keep healthcare tied to employers. If you fear getting fired and losing your health insurance you may not be able to protest against policies

I don’t work so got that. Don’t go to school. And I can certainly not shop. But this should be for the whole weekend. Husb will work but I told him he can’t spend any money.

This will kill business for colonial cities that count on large turnouts for May Day celebrations. In some large cities rooted in colonial history, May Day...MAY 1st...is a traditional day that attracts thousands of ppl and brings increased revenue. It's a beautiful day. This year, a Friday. DAMN

I’m on board I do have to take my elderly father to his oncologist appointment! That’s the only thing I’ll do that day

A general strike has to be sustained for more than a single day before it makes any difference. All of you will see that a single day general strike will do absolutely nothing to change anything. Has no one learned how Eastern Europe has done this yet?

In a nation with no class solidarity it's necessary for small displays that gain momentum. Every no kings protest has grown by millions of participants. This causes an authoritarian response that results in a feedback loop. Eventually the momentum will be unstoppable.

First step is to secure a massive propaganda network like MAGA owns/operates. But since that's not been on any Leftie $B'aires agenda no movement can possibly be set up, coordinated or sustained.

It is how you build a movement. No Kings built by helping millions add every time. Now start with a day of strike …. Let people see the impact Then you build Doing nothing but complain gets us no where fast

Notice how the recent #NoKings Day resulted in nothing? What do you see different out of the 47 admin? NOTHING. If anyone believes a general strike is going to make a diff I've got news. It needs to be SUSTAINED FOR MONTHS TO MAKE A SINGLE DENT.

With every major march, this regime takes something away from the citizens. After Jan 2017 Women’s March, Roe v Wade rescinded. March For Our Lives for greater gun control…gun laws rolled back. That’s how this regime suppresses resistance.

I'll do no shopping, but I live in a right to work state, which means my employer can fire me without cause, and they absolutely would if I called in on that day without proof that I was ill or injured.

Just do no shopping, no gas, for a week except food and health items. See how it goes and keep building from there. That is something majority can get on board with. No one is going to possibly lose their job over 1 protest day that will see no results.

Been advocating for Strikes since beginning of DJT2. Doesn't have to be National: rolling, or local Strikes would also be effective. Strikes are more immediate than elections, less subject to trumpering and avoids collisions with DHS/ICE What they fear most: LOSS OF PROFITS

I’m all for it except for the “no school” part. An uneducated citizenry is exactly what MAGA wants, so symbolically it’s at odds with the message. Also, in my state, we have teachers unions and pay our teachers very well.

Make it last until the ppl get what they want. That’s what France did. That’s what other countries do. One day protests are can help, but it doesn’t hurt corporate enough. It’s just a blip. Many days in a row begins to hurt. These scum only listen to numbers. We need them to hurt.

A nationwide strike is ever going to happen, it must be planned. We’ll need unity, coordination, and above all, kindness, supporting each other, sharing resources, and staying disciplined. Only together can something this unprecedented succeed.

It is not. It needs to be long enough that the people at the top feel it in their wallets but it hurts far more regular people until then. It requires perseverance, mutual aid, and at least some guarantee of success. But what are the options? Vote, protest, strike, bloody revolution. 🫤

I support this movement 100% & hope for its success. Of course, I hate to admit how easy it is for me - I have no job & am too financially insecure to indulge in anything more than a grocery store shopping spree. But I sympathize with essential workers and ppl who don’t get paid if they miss work.

I'll gladly participate but question if one day will make a difference. So we shop the day before or after, take a vacation or sick day. I work for myself so I close for the day. A week would be more effective, of course it would also be more painful all round. Anyway, it's on the calendar.

If we actually had a critical mass participation… yes, one day is enough. Please ask people who voice their concerns about the strike what it would take for them to be able to participate- and if there’s a way to help get them the resources they need for that day, please do it

Not sure if we should wait so long. Our troops are getting killed as we type. I’m already not shopping, at box stores, but that isn’t a lot. More than one day would be helpful too. This demented old orange man has destroyed everything we hold dear. Thanks for sharing.

2 For a certain percentage of people to be out. We need to have enough participants that we can halt production or at least severely restrict it to less than 50%… Please ask ppl hesitant about participating, what they would need to do it, and help them if you can.

1 There’s no way to hide something like this - the entire point is to have critical mass participation …. 330 MILLION people are not gonna seek out a private conversation about a GENERAL strike. Also- the ONLY way this works is with enough people participating. Companies should ALREADY be planning

I really hate to say this, as I never thought it would come to this. But I feel we must make a stand. I have already for quite some time boycotted target and several other establishments. Let’s see if we make any difference. And above all we must be safe.

A one day strike has no effect , we need to boycott companies that support trump every day Yes I know that’s next to impossible to boycott 100% but if we reduce our spending by 25% to places like Amazon- it will hurt them
