I think the most annoying part of this is that if you’re asking people to vote for constituents who aren’t fighting for their livelihood- hell, their HUMANITY, then you’re literally just asking people to vote to keep you in your position of power for your own self interest.

It’s peak “vote for us just because we’re not the other guys” energy. I know a lot of words have been said about “vote blue no matter who” but no one took that to heart more, apparently, than the Dems themselves.

If these people are so terrified of people being angry at them that they choose to stand for nothing. They shouldn't be surprised when they don't inspire people either.

"Hey, let's alienate a core part of our base while also vapidly making our platform a GOP-lite that flies in the face of so many polling 'unfavorables' when it comes to policies"

I'm honestly baffled that people in power are apparently ignorant of history. Do they know what happens to the aristocracy when the public feels like they have no prospects and no representation in their government? There's usually a recurring theme by the end.

Its important to note that the Democratic Party is a cash-gathering operation, not a vote-gathering operation. They have to do a dance between what the public wants (not an oligarch agenda) and the people who buy policy (oligarchs). Delivering policy for the public jeopardizes the corporate cash.

"We want to lose. We do not want to win. We do not want to govern. We want to be the official opposition in perpetuity. It's the only thing we know how to do. It's where we're comfortable. Please kindly fuck yourself and vote for us, but not all of us, just around 40% of us. God Bless America."

Reading this article sure was an experience. This think tanks plan seems to be "what if we turned the Democrats into the Republican party from about 12 years ago?" since they basically want to chase all the left-leaning folks out. Absolutely wild.

that's been the plan of every democratic think tank for the past 4 decades. I remember when tea party Republicans were the "radical" part of the party, and now they're the moderate voice of reason for the far right. and that's happened in just the last 20ish years.
