George Lucas says rejecting using AI to make movies is like rejecting cars in favor of horses. https://bit.ly/4bec7UP

He's not wrong, but the nuance he's missing with this comment is that cars are destroying eveything. The users of cars are collectively causing unimaginable harm to our planet. We have collectively decided that this is OK.

A car that drives you hundreds of miles away from your appointed place for a job interview, and tells you you're arrived at your destination, is less than useless. It's also burned more limited resources on the way. You're also 25 miles from the next gas station and the gas tank is empty.

The prequel showed he became a lazy filmmaker who would rather have CGI do all the work and let him sit there than the actual heart put in them. His great accomplishment came from other people editing his work to a polish. Of course, he loves AI. More time in that chair.

I mean cars are pretty terrible and how often do people on horseback kill/hurt other people because they're intoxicated? How often do horses run over toddlers? Wait, was that meant to be an argument FOR ai?

I love George. He's an icon. However, even his biggest fans would admit he's over-reliant on digital technologies. I remember watching Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith when they came out, and even then my friends and I were scratching our heads at the unnecessary CGI (Clone Troopers).

He is a creative, he doesn't see new things as a threat but as an opportunity. But well, people are idiots so I can understand why anything intelligent can make them feel threaten.

Sure, because he's the one in charge. With AI he wouldn't have to deal with other people's opinions or input. And all those creative people under him don't have to be there so we can have more soulless simulacra as he commands.

People: ho no, they used art to train their AI! so unethical! Also people: watch this on a phone that has been made in a sweatshop with anti-suicide net and component mined by children. People are idiots, I don't care about their "opinions".

Also, all the stupidities you post, where do you think it's stored? Social media need a lot of water and energy. You want to convince me? Stop using social media. Otherwise it's just insecurity mascarading as ethic.

Its almost like all the old rich guys no longer are cut out for the industry, and no longer have the creativity to interest anyone so they just tell you that, no, everyone is wrong, this crappy slop is actually great.
