Post

I replay The Beginner's Guide approximately every year because I keep finding myself looking at it in a different way. it is a stellar game and this is a stellar post

usually when a work tries to touch on this idea, of broken stories about broken stories, it ends up destroying itself. its sort of reassuring to me that davey went on to make more games after beginners guide, it was not an all consuming black hole that terminated his body of work

I love the idea that you can capture this knot and express it in a game. It is — as is a theme in the game — a way to take something complex and confusing and give it a dedicated space and boundary so you can acknowledge it and still move forward

the full first paragraph in the final abstract section was an eye opening mirror for some writing projects I've started over and over. that was pretty cool. the idea that some people also refunded the game because they thought it was really stolen games is still funny.

I am not aware of your conversations, but do people actually want to talk to you about the beginners guide or do they want you to comment on homestucks "document" that includes a misinterpretation of it to attack you?

excited! i feel like I lack something in my character that prevented me from feeling like I really understood it. I got SOMETHING out of it for sure but I've always felt like there's way more in there

every time i hear The Beginner's Guide mentioned i'm always disappointed that it's not about hit ms paint fan adventure A Beginner's Guide to the End of the Universe, which means a lot to me personally and I also think is very good
