We are horrified to learn of the shooting of Charlie Kirk. Political violence has no place in democracy. The foundation of democracy rests on the principle that differences can be debated vigorously, but peacefully, without intimidation or acts of violence.

We have been fighting against gun violence for decades. And there are those who said gun deaths are worth it. The innocent families who have lost children to gun violence deserve our prayers and support. Those who enable it? Maybe not.

Horrified? Really? Can we not? He was a Christian nationalist whose organization provides haven for white supremacists and who thinks it's "worth [it] to have a cost of, unfortunately, some gun deaths every single year so that we can have the Second Amendment to protect our other God-given rights."

MSNBC, CNN are making it out like Kirk was a saint. He was not. It’s unfortunate that he was shot and killed. “I think it's worth to have a cost of, unfortunately, some gun deaths every single year so that we can have the Second Amendment to protect our other God-given rights" - Charlie Kirk, 2023

Whatever one feels about Charlie (I thought he was a despicable person) I never think violence is the answer or a morally sound choice in one’s life. He has children who have lost a father. And this kind of violence, political violence, if you will, only begets more violence.

Democracy is associated with the tule of law, with fundamental freedoms, & equality for all. It connected to accountability & none, nada of the GOP, Maga & this fascist president respect. So spare us the lefties the mis use of the Word when you are excusing dangerous behavior coming from the right

Tell that to the white supremest that are in our government - to DT to Theil to Miller to Holman to ICE to the white nationalist, to Maga and final to all, ALL Republicans. Actually the way thru are raging war with Americans scream it at them. And please spare us with your B-S-h-i-t!!!!

We’re not living in a democracy anymore. People like Charlie Kirk are the reason. DT & HF don’t want a democracy. They are doing everything they can to destroy it. They spread hatred & racism & although it’s not as visible as a bullet in the neck, it’s still just as violent & deadly!

Charlie Kirk was a racist who sought to bolster white supremacy through the sanitized filter of “just asking questions.“ I believe he was a terrible human being. That in and of itself cannot justify assassinating someone merely for speaking, hateful rhetoric. 1/

Unless he were calling for direct violent action against innocent people, this cannot be condoned or rationalized. While the dangers to black & brown people presented by his rhetoric are real, escalating to deadly violence is not the way to defeat his movement. 2/

The United States was founded in violence. We have rockets and bombs in our national anthem. We thought Free Speech was the most important thing and guns the second most important thing. How can you possibly think this country doesn't have a place for violence?

Why do you think it is political? Was he running for office and presenting his policy ideas? I thought he was just a man ensuring women had no choices and that gun death were the necessary cost for the 2nd Amendment.

While the left is universally condemning political violence, the right is blaming the left. Another day of politics for the good old #GOP. PS (just so we're perfectly clear)- It's. The. Fucking. Guns.

It’s really not different but any kind of murder is not the answer. Gangs killing gangs? That is no answer. Charlie getting killed solves nothing. Yes he was despicable but he should not have been shot to death in the neck. It’s just wrong, whatever his views. It was murder. It was illegal.

If we were still a democracy, I might agree. This administration is fascist and authoritarian at its core, and violence is part of that. Not sure what country you are living in, because it sure isnt this one right now.

Horrified HORRIFIED? You must be kidding. Good riddance for him being dead and gone! Don’t fucking pretend to be “horrified” when he was one of the driving forces behind anti-vaccine, anti-education, anti-gun control, and project 2025 agendas.

The issue isn't CharlIe Kirk, the individual. Assassinations lead to more repression, more danger for resistance leaders, and scare would-be allies away. We must firmly stand for the principle of non-violence. In this country we don't do kings, and we don't do assassinations. Ever.

I’m more concerned with the use of him as a martyr hero figure by the fascists. He’ll become MAGA’s “Horst Wessel” (Google if you aren’t familiar w/ the name.) I have a few different thoughts about who might have did this and why, but I’ll keep my unfounded speculation offline for now.

If you are under direct threat of deadly violence then obviously fighting back with violence is justified. I feel like, as reprehensible and hateful Charlie Kirk and Turning Point’s movement are, they didn’t meet that threshold. I can think of other much better alternatives to Kirk, but I digress.

"I think it's worth to have a cost of, unfortunately, some gun deaths every single year so that we can have the Second Amendment to protect our other God-given rights. That is a prudent deal. It is rational." - Charlie Kirk

People cheering this event will have a bitter taste of the outcome of it. No matter who did it and why, this will be weaponized hard. Last thing needed was him as a "MAGA martyr" to fuel their hatred even more. He was already sinking himself with his embarrassing performances vs prepared debaters

Leah & ezra would you be open to a civil discussion to see how we can unite both sides the republicans & the democrats to truly end the war on hate & suffering to see how we can unite as one country & enter into a peaceful new dawn & golden age & end the war on hate & suffering once & for all?

Two students at a Colorado Hight School were shot and killed today. I feel more upset about that than the death of an propaganda spreading hater who asked his supporters to post bail for Pelosi’s attacker.

I agree 100 percent that political violence has no place in a democracy. My question is "Where is this level of outrage when children are slaughtered while in a church praying, or in a school classroom, which happens frequently in this country and far more often than political gun violence?"

Seriously this governor said violence has no place really really because it affects you now while your president is actively killing people and bombing people on boats and dropping them from airplanes and sending them to foreign countries and human trafficking kidnapping. Oh yeah and Epstein.
