it's genuinely actually impressive how bad this is. i know it's vibecoded because the people who designed the website have brains they repeatedly microwave but it's so much worse than you'd even guess

@bsky.app the reason it's bad is that the information density has gotten somehow both less attractive to look at and much harder to parse, by the way. i'm fine with changes when they're good. this isn't. at a glance everything being more spread and harder to look at is a nightmare. icons too big.

i like the decade long user interface concussion we've been experiencing where everything is negative space and undifferentiated flat pill shapes

As a game developer who likes stylish games? I hate it and it fucking sucks As someone who's actively studying UI/UX? It's the standard because it's readable and people know how to use it already. Things become set in place for a reason

i'm not even going after style - a lot of software has these recognizable hints of older, sensible UX metaphors, but with this incoherent "clean" language that undermines it, like why are we detaching tabs a lot of my complaints are probably downstream of the push to unify desktop/mobile UIs tho

i've also noticed this aversion to making clear what's informational vs. interactable at a glance, it all looks the same until you hover it, so you have to use context clues and it often feels like negative space is added almost randomly, because blankness is 'clean', vs. needing to organize info?

I haven't noticed the informational/interactable as much of an issue, I think you might just genuinely being exposed to a lot of exceptionally bad UIs As for the negative space and everything looking the same? I blame bootstrap ngl

I mean yeah. I think the problem is that Mobile and Desktop need two different design languages and we're forcing them both to the lowest common denominator. This shit works fine on a phone, but not on a PC
