I'll give them the benefit of a doubt. To me that looks more like lo-fi screenshots post-processed in an off-brand mobile image editing tool than AI. I don't see typical AI artifacts. Apart from some of it overlapping, all text looks coherent and correct. The Codepens have the exact same layout.

The Codepens are better, but they are very different from the illustrations so there is no chance this is an image export thing. I haven't seen such an image processing tool, and even if there is one, it's the author responsibility to check them out before the article is published.

I was inclined to give them the benefit of the doubt, but yeah, there are sloppy Nano Banana generated images in their other articles and many AI tells elsewhere. A proper shame.

Not to mention that as an author, I personally look for such issues (and many others) to be ironed out before I give my OK for anything to be published under my name. And I may delay an article from getting published for weeks until every issue that bothers me, no matter how small, is fixed.

I wish that, too.. but all the images in the article are like this, not to mention it’s not a good idea at all to condense all that information into an image.
