Trump is considering mass pardons for his enablers. I have some ideas about how they could be undone. Liz Oyer

These people’s crimes were committed in the cohort of criminals led by rump himself. That’s antithetical to “Law in Order”. Pardon your accomplices is the same as pardon yourself. 🤷🏾‍♂️

A presidential pardon isn’t a “get out of everything free” card. It covers federal crimes, even before prosecution. State crimes? Nope. Civil liability? Nope. Impeachment? Nope. A President can close the federal door, but several other doors may remain wide open.

Maybe I'm just over simplifying what I've heard, but doesn't a pardon require a conviction of guilt? Meaning, how can you pardon something that hasn't been convicted yet?

He hasn't "taken care" with a Hell of a lot more things than just pardons. I don't think a day goes by w/o him thumbing his orange nose at the rule of law in one way or another. What about being able to prove cheating in the election? Wouldn't that make the entire presidency null & void?

As I was understand it, anyone who receives a pardon cannot take the 5th if deposed or if testifying, which would screw over Don in a criminal investigation.

I also read somewhere that if someone is granted a pardon, they can not longer plead the fifth and will be expected to testify truthfully in any cases related to their work in the trump administration. That is apparently giving trump pause regarding his mass pardon idea.

If he has done "nothing wrong" and run the country in the interests of the nation and the people why does he need to "pardon" anyone whatsoever?! 🤔 help me to understand please 🙏

Could a Hitler pardon people that acted under his orders Have it be “legal”, unforgivable and be held unaccountable- I think not We the People won’t accept those “pardons” Actions by Trump - ICE - Cabinet members & some in Congress go deeper than small boo-boos Treasonous - murderous

For how much credit The Founding Fathers get for setting up foolproof system of checks and balances and for their alleged vision, they were really stupid that they didn’t foresee a criminal president abusing the pardon power to make crime legal and turn America into full on kleptocracy.

Pardons are a funny thing, they only exist within the country issuing them, do folks getting pardon in USA get to travel in Canada or does the conviction/s stop them?

Cant pre-pardon, as pardon is based on a crime being commited. That could envisage a person commit murder just before the pardon is issued, are they pardoned for the murder?

We know the crimes are on going, but til they are found guilty they can't be pardoned if no federal felony exists. Like DoJ case not to ratify alaska vote, votes do exists yet

Pardon are to anull convictions, there are some in J6 who won't admit to being involved in j6 that aren't pardon. A conviction must exist for a pardon to exist. The idea that Trump can pardon for something that doesn't exist is idiotic, like trump pardoning his future grandkids

Another thing they can do is sign up to the international criminal court and let them prosecute the Trump administration criminals who have broken international laws. Trump and Hegseth can be extradited to Iran to face trial for war crimes.

I appreciate this, but it’s a moot point. Trump’s pardon plans likely thrill Democratic leaders like Schumer and Jeffries, who want a return to the status quo. From the 2008 financial collapse to the Confederacy, this country avoids accountability. Here, healing is collusion. Power protects power.

How many Dem candidates have put it on the record that they would pursue this? Can we safely assume that if they haven't, they won't? (So far, I've really only seen *Republicans*—inc. Trump—declare that Dems would investigate & charge them.)

These pardons will be challenged. Article II, Section 3 provides that the President "shall take Care that the Laws be faithfully executed." The President oversees the executive branch but must do so in service of enforcing laws enacted by Congress rather than substituting personal preferences.

He created the inflation. He did nothing to decrease or end it. Affordability? He said & does not care about what the people’s finances are. He just cares about himself and his wealthy cohorts. He reaps what he did not sow.

As an attorney you know when you debrief an individual their immunity or plea deal can be undone if they don't tell the truth or are not conclusive about their participation in a crime. Don't pardons have to specify what's being pardoned? I can't see a blanket pardon being a legal catch all.

They’ll flee. They set up political refuge in the first 45 days of the regime with Argentina when they sent $40B of our taxpayer dollars. Most likely not until after Trump does unspeakable things to this country. Brace yourselves for a massive psychopathic malignant narcissistic tantrum.

Peter Thiel already has moved his family to Argentina. Around 5,000 Nazis moved Argentina quickly after World War II. Knowledge of History always helps.

The fact that he sells pardons to convicted billionaires and rapists should be clear evidence that he has abused that pardon power. I can’t believe we have to even have this discussion.

Accepting a pardon means accepting the guilt associated with the crime. Anyone who accepts a pardon could be brought in for questions regarding the crime... and not be able to plead the 5th. Use the small fish to catch the big fish.

My simple brain thinks that once it has been determined that he was in fact an illegitimate president with the help from Mustyputin that that would equal illegitimate pardons.

I also do not see why Congress cannot enacts statutes setting general standards for pardons, e.g., no blanket pardons nor pardons granted at all unless and until the party has been convicted of a crime; no pardons for appointees or contributors of the president , nor for the president or his family.

"All" legislative power is vested in Congress (Art I s 1) & it is empowered specifically:"To make all Laws which shall be necessary & proper for carrying into Execution ... all other Powers vested by this Constitution in the Government of the United States, or in any Department or Officer thereof."

Third eye open people mind control every thought from the rest of us with telepathic magic. Voices in people’s heads? They are other humans on Earth who mind control the rest of us. Look your friends in the eyes. They’re bad at keeping their cover. #endoursuffering

This is the guy who said "Fuck it, pardon them all" for the J-6'ers, released the Taliban Terrorists and pardons the worst elements in his Bribes for Pardons Retirement. We need to stop ALL pardons for his reckless dementia and make them pay all restitution.

For those staffers collect valuable evidence and be at the head of the line to become a witness it may be more valuable than a pardon signed by HIM. The late comers may not be so lucky.

👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 States are also going to have to create new laws that can capture crimes committed federally, but that impact states.

BOOM 💥 🔥👏👏👏👏 Thank you Ms Hoyer This gives me hope that Trump’s pardon power isn’t the last word on this. They can be challenged! Keep talking about this! Please 🙏

This is so important! We cannot bring back those whose lives have been taken 😓 But we can work to help those who have been hurt We can tear down any moment Trump builds & tear his name off buildings We can fix the White House - the British burned it down once, we rebuilt it More importantly...

We can REVERSE the Big Ugly Bill We can TAX THE RICH to better fund those programs We can #AbolishICE and move border enforcement & immigration back under the Department of Justice We can dismantle Homeland Security and move those functions back to their original homes And more Let's go ✊

Could individual states charge and prosecute those who have committed crimes against those states while employed by DC? Like ICE running a person over with their car or shooting harmful or deadly weapons with intent to harm or kill and anyone who lied to defend or cover the crimes

1) His rallies are evidence in state cases vs. him & whoever traveled with him to those specific states as pardons are not subject to state laws 2) Pleading the fifth in any federal case will not injure them as they are protected & can state the truth vs. him @newyorkstateag.bsky.social knows

Exactly! She's thinking outside the Box of Rules which have been hamstringing us We can do great things if we stop letting "political norms" which are actually just excuses for protecting the rich and the corrupt from consequences

It is very clear that the vast majority of Trump’s pardons have been corrupt. He has been making money by pardoning wealthy criminals, and issuing pardons to criminal thugs and January 6 rioters so that he could staff ICE, his own personal Gestapo. Corrupt pardons must be challenged in court.
