Artists on twitter are currently having a huge anti-tracing shitfight where certain artists are actually delusional enough to compare tracing 3D models to using AI. It is a truly fucking miserable and unserious place.

they're posting videos themselves freehand drawing like 😏😏😏 heh, you lazy so-called-artists need to learn what drawing,, actually is, like me, a real artist, 😤😤😤👋🍆💦 it is so embarrassing you are so embarrassing please for the love of god give me a lobotomy

I genuinely believe anti-tracing ideology is a slipery slope. Because it then becomes oh well in that case if you photobash youre also cheating! and then if you use too much reference you're cheating! and then actually, if you think about it, digital art is lowkey cheating!

The only valid way to draw becomes charcoal on the face of a cave but only if you've made sure to never look at the subject of what you're drawing, actually just be blind, claw your eyes out, thats the only way it comes from real raw self-created suffering-built skill!!!

mixed media is cheating! Photography is cheating! The only real and valid skill is accurately capturing something with lines you draw with nothing but your hand, using minimal-to-no reference! Composition? Design? Colour-grading? Compositing? Typography? Silhouette? Those aren't real skills i guess!

lowkey lazy and cheating if you think about it like why didn't they learn to freehand draw their hands instead of tracing them? Their skills are still at zero they literally learned nothing??? 🙄🙄 okim done im DONE IM FINE IM F I N E

This has always been my favorite depiction of "cheating" and "purity" in art

welcome to twitter, we got ragebait in every flavor imaginable! jokes aside tho, you will find some wild art takes eeespecially in fandom spaces... it's. uhm. yeah.

Get me out of here
