Hey sure why not

been thinking about my top games a lot lately and this might be the closest to certain I've ever been about a top list

Just played through Sekiro again. Its genius is in being so difficult that it becomes endlessly replayable if you suck as bad as I do 😊

Do you have a video essay on the Beginner's Guide? Because a friend had me play that blind, and while I finished it in 3 hours I haven't stopped thinking about it constantly for a decade

It's the hardest game of all time, because it immediately invites you to analyze the person who would make it, which is of course the antithesis of the entire game.

Ico has one of my favorite OSTs and to this day I have not played it Also I know it's not the point but you should give Look Outside a try, could be up your alley :>

Oh man, I heard you talk about Anatomy on MinnMax a while back and wasn't sure I was in the right headspace for it. Seeing it nestled up there with 8 of my own absolute favorites has got me convinced I need to play it sooner rather than later.

A little late to this, but glad to see The Last Guardian on that list Jacob. For me it's Ueda's Magnum opus at least in terms of themes and executing a perfect blend of narrative and gameplay. And somehow it's the most underrated of his work. Can't wait for "Project Robot".

Im part of a never ending steam discussion started by a guy that hated the beginner's guide with people arguing whether or not it is art (i believe it is) and it gets updates every year at least.

These exercises, while fun, do little to explain the giant shoulders these games stand on… or how we even got to the genres on display or what influenced their design and narrative. They are fun little mosaics that kind of feel like the gamer equivalent of an astrology sign.

It's always hard for me to choose between Sekiro and Furi, they scratch a similar itch for me. Sifu tops both in my opinion tho

I've heard of all of them, but ironically The Beginner's Guide is the only one I've played. It's a very hard one to talk about, to such a point that I'm not sure I could talk about it with someone who hadn't played it, but I can't be sure about recommending it, since it could be misinterpreted.
