Usually each Harvard Law class has 50-70 Black students. This year it’s 19, which is the lowest number since *1965*. Struggling to articulate how sad and angry this makes me (gift link) www.nytimes.com/2024/12/16/u...

Well I wish you would. My first impulse has always been that we should relativize the value of elite unis like Harvard because Harvard doesn’t want us (which is their prerogative), and demanding that we get in just sharpens the resentment. But apparently there’s more to it?

So all those that marched and died during the civil rights era was all for nothing. White supremacy is having a resurgence and is achieving its goal to Make White supremacy great again

The right believes wholeheartedly in affirmative action - it's actually their favorite thing in the world- it's just that they don't believe black folks should ever get to benefit from it.

Education reporters stop quoting Richard Sander about affirmative action, he pushes racist pseudointellectual horseshit and taking him seriously is embarrassing

The best question to ask when someone is critical of 'affirmative action', how do they feel about legacy admissions and other non-race based affirmative action? Oh those are fine? Why is that?

Look, I am acutely aware of the accuracy of this statement, but you do not have to like or venerate Harvard to be angry about a reactionary counterrevolution that is closing of opportunities to people of color because Sam Alito’s neighbor’s cousin’s son got rejected from Yale or whatever

Our SCOTUS is a buncha assholes. They think they can just declare that racism doesn't exist. Banning AA is like banning regulations and expecting business to do the right thing because the market will decide. Welp? Harvard did exactly what it was allowed to do. This is such a damn shame..
