Dude, cigarette smoke used to be so common. Going out to eat? Your food will get some extra flavor. Going to a concert, visiting a neighbor, standing outside a mall? Hope you don’t mind some carcinogens.

We were just talking about this at work, laughing at the absurdity of smoking sections on planes or in restaurants, like sitting one row or table away made any difference!

I still remember a debate that I had about smoking sections in restaurants: the other person absurdly insisted that they worked and that smoke didn’t simply drift everywhere. (This was when state and local governments were starting to ban smoking in lots of new places.)

And if you sat in a plane's non-smoking section you were 'protected' from the smoke by a curtain!
