100 years from now someone will write a book about how we mowed down forests for datacenters while the world was burning. It won't be complementary.

The lessons from Brazil and Serbia? Don't concede one inch of ground to the far right. Don't appease. Don't triangulate. Don't grovel. Don't say they have "legitimate concerns". Mobilise your base, and fight them with all the democratic means at your disposal.

Photo from Reddit. White nationalists just outside the BC Legislature this morning after a BC Cons supermajority. This group is Loyalist Pioneers, a white nationalist organization virtually identical to Second Sons. They've been active around Victoria for about a year & a half.

Record low NDP voter turnout caused this. 275,000 fewer NDP votes. Congratulations to the #BCGreens the only party to actually gain votes. I never want to hear about "strategic voting" again. The NDP couldn't even be bothered to vote "strategically" for their own party. #bcpoli #cdnpoli

Turnout is shockingly low with 85% of ballot boxes in. We might not crack 50%, and are miles away from the 58% turnout in 2024.

A majority of British Columbians just announced they are: -Climate Change Deniers -Transphobes -Racists -Genocide Deniers and I'm sorry but I am no longer proud to call this province home. We have a serious problem. I do not feel safe in this province anymore. This is a very dark moment.

Polls have closed in B.C.'s provincial election. Elections BC says votes cast in advance will be electronically scanned, so there may be a batch of early results. Votes cast today, however, will be hand counted. We're expecting those results to start to roll in around 9 p.m.

Lots of wankers complaining about waiting in line to vote. Why are you not just grateful you can vote at all? And why didn’t you use a mail in ballot?

Why is the word violence used when a protester in France smashes a window, but not used when French police assault protesters? Is it somehow no longer violence if the action is committed by an employee of the state?

Half. Half of all Parks Canada staff. Market Carney is gutting our public services, and gutting is putting it mildly. Slashes like this can only precede privatization like BC did with our parks system, putting in a middle man extracting profit from government finding for literally no good reason.

At least $50 billion for another pipeline. $82 billion in new military spending in 5 years. $300 billion in corporate welfare and mega incentives at an investment summit. But the cupboard is bare for Parks Canada.

Cities should think twice about letting tech companies test driverless cars on their streets. And commentators need to stop treating the arrival as inevitable. Since I wrote this post earlier this year, the troubling incidents have continued to accumulate: www.highspeed.blog/waymo-trouble/

WATCH: Seriously, if you’re following ANY bike-lane debate, you really should watch and share this excellent news story. Ford LIES that bike-lanes are bad for small business, and THE ACTUAL BUSINESS ASSOCIATION obliterates him with data. Remember and share this as Ford tears out Toronto bike-lanes.

toronto.citynews.caAnnex businesses tell Ford to back off Bloor bike lanesStores in the Annex say the Bloor bike lanes have been a big boost to business. As Michelle Mackey reports, the neighborhood's BIA wants the province to back off its new bill that could see the lanes removed.
