As usual, nail right on the head. The largest problems with AI are absolutely NOT what AI is capable of, or what it would take to get it work, but the approach towards it by the people who'll nominally control it's destiny and just what a horrible way they've sold the whole endeavor.

100% The approach to making these tools usable, safe and valuable is critical to make this work. Selling this to bosses as wholesale labor replacement, not giving a shit about how models are trained, and being completely unethical about training data procurement undermines many of the upsides.

the technofascists also lobotomized all our regulators who'd enforce any sort of ethical and labor guardrails (if we had any), which I didn't really get into that is...bad

REGULATION KILLS INNOVATION AND FREEDOM (on repeat across the entirely of corporate media for 50 years)

the AI version of this is at full volume right now. every proposed guardrail gets branded an innovation killer, usually by the exact people who'd have to pay for the guardrail. most of the time the phrase just means 'please don't make me internalize my own externalities,' with better PR.
