I read/came across my newsfeed that Ike Barinholtz (uncanny resemblance ) of madTV and 'Neighbors' movies will play Melon Husk 🍈 in a high-profile movie. I believe cameras will be shooting soon. #Musk #FilmSky

doesn't sound like they're capturing and killing the Elon Musk documentary, at least. The creators will not only get a kill fee but paid twice for the rights by a different company. other, more challenging and lower profile docs likely wouldn't be as lucky anyoo, it's comcastic

no just too chickenshit to release it They'll likely have to pay a kill fee and it will land somewhere else, with the creators getting paid for rights twice

For what it's worth the article headline is clickbait, it doesn't matter, universal would have to pay an artist see, and they could turn around and sell the rights again. But the release dates already moved up because of demand. It's not getting buried.

I mean yeah, it's actually possibly good for the creators because they'll get a kill fee and paid a second time for the rights, but it's still true and not clickbait that Comcast NBC Universal corporation are cowards

From the article: A politically explosive film that alleges, among other things, that its subject could be using data gathered during his DOGE period against Democrats in the upcoming U.S. election.

This isn’t just a consolidation story, it’s the second Alex Gibney film to get buried by David Zazlov! I used to work for Discovery, privately held, which he ran into the ground. He caught and killed Oscar nominated film Taxi To The Dark Side to preserve the IPO in 2007

Yes, after starting it with AFI and remodelling the AFI Silver theatre. John Hendricks was committed to Maryland but Zazlov hated it. A Beverly Hills/Manhattan player so ripped up hundreds of millions of recent investment/redevelopment AFI retreated to Hollywood only. Tragic for east coast film

As someone who also worked for discovery - confirming that zaslav hated having any presence in Maryland/Virginia despite us being the best in operations in the industry. He went out of his way to make the Maryland offices feel like an outpost

It’s the ultimate efficiency play: why bother with a marketplace of ideas when you can just own the entire storefront and charge admission for the echoes?
