Only a matter of time before Trump issues himself a generalissimo uniform

Scott Horton@robertscotthorton.bsky.social

Watch this documentary on the rise of Idi Amin and you'll find yourself puzzling over the many striking parallels between Amin and Trump. They really are two peas in a pod. www.thetimes.com/culture/tv-r...

A traitor to his profession

Bob Woodward names his sources, most of whom are dead, some of whom gave him permission and others who became identifiable in public records as his sources www.washingtonpost.com/investigatio...

The oath of office requires faithful execution of the law. There is no way these pardons would be done in good faith, thus you could argue that they would be invalid.

Trump is considering mass pardons for his enablers. I have some ideas about how they could be undone. Liz Oyer

Pockets such as the price of absolutely everything

Hassett: This is about the best economy we've ever seen. Sure, there are going to be some pockets that need some repairs...

Because we all know the leadership is looking for creative ways to preemptively surrender. Have to keep the pressure on them all day every single day.

Leaders of the No Kings movement are already gearing up for the next major grassroots campaign: Making sure congressional Democrats don’t wimp out. My first piece at @newrepublic.com! (Reposted to update link card) newrepublic.com/article/2168...

That's how you keep the corporate cash flowing. You don't do anything that might upset a potential donor. The dampening of enthusiasm is a feature not a bug. The more riled the base is, the more vulnerable these shitty incumbents are.

Oh, so this is a cynical moral panic drummed up by fascists? I, for one, am shocked to learn this.

A new survey of 1,000 American adults found that the strongest supporters of transgender sports bans are not the people who admire women most: they are the people who hold the most hostile views about women. www.helenwebberley.com/news/transge...

I’m not a political journalist, so was gladly surprised at the community I found here last night. To Americans anxious about the upcoming elections, a key thing we learned in Brazil that might help you: DO NOT engage with the far-right online. Don’t share rage bait. Amplify your people. Ignore them.

This right here

Ian Boudreau@ianboudreau.com

I think people intuitively understand that democratic candidates tossing trans kids to the wolves is not only morally repugnant but also politically ineffective, otherwise they wouldn't freak out every time someone said they weren't voting for a democrat who did this

It's not a mistake. The establishment hates the progressives because they won't play footsie with Wall Street. They'd prefer AES lose so they have someone to run against in six years.

this is fucking appalling. i already knew james dolan (who owns the knicks and madison square garden) was a douche but this is next-level. www.nytimes.com/athletic/771...

This isn't even enough to build a single small refinery.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Trump: "In more breaking news, my administration is using the Defense Production Act to release $150 million to increase American refining capacity to produce more diesel and more gasoline"

I knew it was bad, but not this bad.

Jake Grumbach@jakemgrumbach.bsky.social

We found that as of right now 73% of your campaign donation goes back to the consultants and vendors (!!!), four times more than just 20 years ago. Only 13% to ads. Even I was shocked.

I just figured out why Steam Next Fest is recommending a ton of match-3 and puzzle combat games to me. Ever since I implemented Steam achievement support in Torment Hexus, my Steam client thinks that I am playing Torment Hexus whenever I launch the editor. Consequently, my playtime is, uh, high.
