what happens next? what always happens. Paramount moves forward, and pays down the massive deal debt with massive layoffs, price hikes, and corner cutting resulting in lower quality products. At which point guys like Newsom, and other folks who pushed for settlement, will be nowhere to be found.

They did not "fail pathetically." Newsom & leaders in California, who were afraid to lose a chunk of their media production business, failed--for the same reason universities & law firms did: money. People aiming like don knots around here, & it's getting tiresome. FYI, corporatism is your target.

You describing their failure doesn't make it not a failure ...
